Development Permit Application for the commercial-zoned property at 664 Mountain Highway catalyzes community interest in solution to traffic noise and congestion and its affect on the neighbourhood.

May 2004

Public open house is held by the DNV staff to discuss the problem and collect ideas for possible solutions.

November 2004

Two public meetings are held to work on options developed from public open house.

June 2, 2005

4 options presented to council - noise fencing, row housing, mid-density development, high-density development. Development options consider most viable with challenge of consolidating properties the only barrier. Next step of issuing a request for proposal to development community.

Spring of 2006

Hynes Developments approaches the District with an interest in re-developing the area.

July, 2006

After working with staff for several months Hynes Developments submits application for OCP amendment for Fern Street Area.

September 7, 2006

First meeting with Advisory Design Panel

September - December, 2006

Meetings with DNV staff departments to develop the Design Brief, a document outlining the Goals and Objectives any development on the Fern St property should address. Meeting with community and special interest groups including local community associations, North Shore Disability Resource Centre, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Vancouver, North Shore Resource Centre.

December 4, 2006

Council workshop to introduce Seylynn Concept and Hynes Developments as well as Design Brief.

January 10, 2007

Public Open House outlining concepts behind Seylynn Village held at Holiday Inn, attended by approximately 140 people.

February 19, 2007

Council directs staff, with unanimous approval, to draft a Plan Amendment to Lower Lynn Local Plan to accommodate a development meeting standards laid out in Design Brief.

March - April, 2007

Intensive meetings with DNV staff on specific issues including Housing, Transportation and Urban Design, as well as meetings with local Community Association Executives with DNV staff in attendance all to inform the Plan Amendment and the creation of the Development Guidelines, which will guide the preparation of any further policy or design decisions of development in the area.

Public Information Meeting held at Holiday Inn, attended by approximately 150 people.

June 10, 2007

Delegation to City of Vancouver receives unanimous support for Seylynn Village and local road and highway improvements.

DNV Transportation Department release report clarifying proposed transportation projects for Seylynn Village.

January 22, 2008

Public Hearing held for plan amendment bylaws. 19 speak in favour, 13 comment, 3 opposed.

April 10, 2008

Second meeting with ADP. Unanimous support of project and to meet once more before re-zoning.

April 16, 2008

DNV holds introductory public meeting for Lower Lynnmour Concept Plan.
